So on our first free afternoon together in a very, very long time, Ed and I went up to the Science Museum of Minnesota to check out the Pirates exhibit I’ve been dying to see. Things I learned: 1) I need to carry a camera everywhere 2) Blackbeard had 14 wives (he asked me to be his 15th, but I did not acquiesce to his request) 3) Pirates seldom killed the people on ships they boarded, they just wanted booty (and who can blame them. we all just want booty, don’t we?). If you’re in the area I would highly recommend checking it out. It’s only there until Sept. AND THEN “Tornado Alley” is finally coming out in omnitheater. Seen the show Storm Chasers? It’s the IMAX film they’re taking in the TIV – so freakin excited!! Anyway…yes..waterbuffalo…
So after seeing some pirate booty we wanted to try a new place for lunch since we were up in the cities – Punch Pizza it was.
As it was my first time I asked the nice lady behind the counter to give us the skinny. I chose the MARGHERITA EXTRA with a strange cow-like icon next to it on the menu. Mozzerella di bufala? Cheese from water buffalo milk? Really!?! Why? Just? Why? But had to try.
This is where I WISH i had my camera not only for the pizza but my facial expression after I tasted it…eyes.crossed behind closed eyes.goodness. What did I expect? Nothing really I mean mozzarella is mozzarella, RIIIGHT? No. How to describe. Richer, deeper, different, earthy. I loved it SO much that I started doing research about Water buffalo. (Can we imagine Ed rolling his eyes at this moment…)
Did you know people raise Yak and Water buffalo on hobby-farms? They do. According to Hobbyfarms.com you don’t need any special permits, they thrive on marginal pasture, mothers birth calves with ease themselves, they’re disease resistant AND with proper training you can RIDE THEM!! No.Way…just..no way.
Okay hun. Calm yourself. The chickens haven’t started laying yet. I’m not going to go off and buy water buffalo or yak without you. But at this point I may be satisfied by trying our hand at making some Mozzarella cheese. Weekend project?? 🙂 🙂 🙂
