I didn’t get any work done on the plane tonight, but I did get to do some flying, so I’ll count tonight as productive!
I’ve been spending so much time and money on the -10 that I have been letting my piloting skills lapse a bit. Well, tonight was a beautiful night, and no one had our club’s Piper Archer reserved, so I headed up to the airport to get the rust out and get my currency back (including night currency).
I got in the air just before sunset, got a few landings under my belt, then flew the 5 minutes or so from the airport to my house to check out the scene. After circling the house (from a very safe altitude — “buzzing” your house is a sure way to get killed!!!) I headed back to the airport to knock a few night landings out until they felt comfortable again. I’m glad to say that my landings were like butter! Having NO wind makes that pretty easy though!
So, I am fully current once again, and my next non-building aviation task is going to be getting checked out in Praba’s ’07 G1000 Cessna 182. Its no RV10, but it is DAMN nice!
