Forward fuse ribs and bulkheads

Hours Worked = 3

Tonight marks the beginning of another section of the plans: Forward Fuselage Ribs, Bulkheads, and Bottom Skin.

Tonight, I mostly worked on deburring and match drilling parts that will build the forward front seat bulkhead. One issue I ran into is a part of the plans that talks about the F1043C “Attach Angles.” ┬áThe problem is that the plans tell you to match drill some nut plate holes that match up with the center tunnel ribs, but those holes don’t exist. Also the diagrams in the plans on that page don’t show the nutplates, but diagrams later in the plans do.

After doing a little Google-Fu, I discovered that a number of others have run into this exact issue before. It seems the problem comes from Vans changing the kits. The -10 no longer uses these nutplates. Vans updated the one diagram in the plans, but leave the old text, and didn’t bother to update later diagrams. So, everything is fine, and I can ignore that paragraph in the plans, but I suppose I spent 30 minutes rereading the plans and searching various RV10 sites to figure that out. Kinda annoying!

30 minutes of searching! I don’t think that qualifies for the zen like prowess that is required to be called google-fu. ha ha.

You are absolutely correct! Don’t you have to use Google’s “I’m feeling Lucky” for it to be considered Google-Fu?
